than ever to land new accounts for investment advisory services. In
the good old days the markets’ performance drove investors to work with
investment advisors. To gather assets all you had to do was wait for the
phone to ring and then customize a portfolio for each prospect. You had to go
through an “sales” process, but the prospects’ desire to invest was a given. Today,
after 10 years of dismal market performance, most people have lost their enthusiasm
for any investment, or to hire any financial advisor. The market meltdowns of
2000 and 2008 traumatized America’s investors. Their confidence is shredded
and their mood has turned sour. That’s
why the traditional value-proposition that, “I can do better than your
current advisor (or manager),” doesn’t work anymore. This creates a problem
for advisors who don’t adapt. But it creates huge opportunities for advisors
who use my system. If

An Advisor? We humans make all our decisions
through sub-conscious emotional processes. Then we justify our decisions with
logic. Logic doesn’t motivate us to act. It only helps us decide which
actions to take to (try to) satisfy our subconscious drives. That’s why “without
emotion there is no motion.” But
most investment advisors ignore emotions and exclusively appeal to the
logical part of their prospects’ brains. That communications tactic can work
in hot markets, but it fails miserably when your prospects’ motivation is
weak or non-existent. That’s
why just crunching numbers and optimizing portfolios for investors is an

probably getting frustrated. Here’s why. Too Much Information Turns-Off Prospects
– When you base your
value proposition and “on-boarding” process around numbers and financial
advice it’s easy to confuse your prospects with to much information. This is
especially true if they are prudent delegators. Confusion is a negative
emotion, which creates a number of challenges. When we experience negative
emotions, our bodies automatically trigger a “distress response.” This causes
adrenaline to flow into our blood system and urges us to fight, freeze or flee. If you’ve ever heard a great prospect say,
“You’ve given me a lot of good information. Now I need to go home and THINK
ABOUT IT,” you’ve experienced the failure of information-based marketing. To attract, engage and satisfy
today’s skeptical investors, you need to do more than provide good
information. You must be able to clearly communicate how your
services will make a personally meaningful impact on their lives. Most importantly, your “on-boarding” process must evoke
positive emotions such as; trust, hope, anticipation, optimism and
desire. Simply put, you need less
information and more emotion in your marketing and selling processes. A Value Proposition that Attracts Prudent
Investors Attracting wealthy prospects and
motivating them to hire you requires different skills than selling
investments in a roaring market. It requires you to learn new
conversations and develop new “on-boarding” processes. Here’s why. The
